CHN Meeting + 2 Important Events

Hi Neighbors -
In addition to the items/speakers listed on the meeting flier, we’ll also have an update on the proposed pedestrian stairway/landscaping between Corbett and Mars.

I also wanted to mention - in case you haven’t heard - that the sidewalks on Castro Street between Market and 19th Streets will be substantially widened in a project that should begin later this year.  There will be a series of community meetings during which you can voice your opinions or specific concerns and view preliminary sketches of the project.  This will be a very exciting project and should be a boost to business in the area.

Here’s a description of this, and also a public safety meeting coming up later in the month - from Supervisor Wiener’s Facebook page:

Save the date for two important community meetings in the next couple weeks, both 6-8 p.m. at the Eureka Valley Rec Center (Collingwood St. between 18th and 19th):

Wednesday January 23: Community Workshop #1 for Castro Street Redesign, including sidewalk widening. I was able to secure funding for the long-desired Castro Street sidewalk widening and other streetscape/pedestrian upgrades. Please join us for this community workshop to see initial design ideas, to ask questions, and to provide feedback and ideas for this exciting project.

Monday January 28: Castro-area neighborhood safety meeting to discuss recent crime trends in the area, including recent robberies and assaults. I'll be there, along with representatives from the three police stations responsible for parts of the neighborhood. Co-sponsors include Castro Community on Patrol, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Castro/Eureka Valley Neighborhood Association, Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association, Castro/Upper Market Community Benefit District, and Merchants of Upper Market and Castro.
