More crime in Corbett Heights

Below are 2 incidents of car break-ins that occurred during the last week.  Never leave anything in your car that is visible to passersby.  That includes sunglasses, coins, cables.  (Especially cables.)

#1
I was walking the dogs this morning at 7AM on the other side of 17th Street where Saturn and Lower Terrace meet, by the house on the "cement hill" around that curve. Five cars had their passenger side windows broken in to. I saw on Temple Street a lot of clothing, food, "stuff" as if someone had been in a fight possibly, then realized as I got closer to Lower Terrace, most of this stuff probably came from the cars that were broken in to.

#2:
My Jeep was broken into between 10 am and 4 pm today.
It was parked in front of my house on 17th Street and Temple.
Daytime with busy street traffic. Was anyone else hit today?

Corbett Heights - Crime, Gardens and MUNI

Hi Neighbors -
Just wanted to send you some neighborhood-related information.

First, we're having a cleanup and trail-clearing day on the Corbett Slope this coming Sunday, March 9 − 11AM until the last one leaves.  We'll have snacks and drinks and tools.
Hope to see you there!  (The entrance is just west of 315 Corbett)

I also wanted to pass along information on the various changes in the works regarding MUNI.  In addition to this list of all the routes in SF, and proposed changes to each, there is a link to numerous citywide meetings to discuss them.  Here's the link:

CRIME:
This incident happened in January, but others have reported similar occurrences in Corbett Heights as well as in neighborhoods across the city.
Here's a description of what happened, along with a photo:

Hi Gary,

I wanted to alert you and if you want to share with others in the neighborhood.  I think this man was unstable and came to my door in late January in the late afternoon.  I called the police after he left, as I felt that this man was "threatening" in his demeanor and I felt very uneasy.

Sequence of events:

My doorbell rang and when I looked through the peephole, there was no one there.  Since UPS sometimes does that and leaves a package, I opened the door.  As soon as I did, a man appeared from the side up the street nearby, since he probably heard me open the door.  He was soliciting for money to donate for something (don't know what) and I asked him if he could leave some literature for me to look at since I didn't have time right now.

He pushed his receipt book into my hand and said please give me a donation and I will write you a receipt.  I don't even know what it was for…  He had a few dollar bills in his hand and I gave him his book back.  He started to plead for a donation and I repeated that I am sorry I don't have time right now and just leave me some literature to look at.  He seemed to be distressed and I said again, I have to leave.  He shouted at me, "I have Aids and I hate you!".

I was so startled.  I repeated that I am sorry and closed my door.

I called the police to report this.

Corbett Slope work day Sunday!

Hi Neighbors

Sorry for the short notice, but a few volunteers offered to help with a long overdue cleanup.  And this coming Sunday, March 9th  worked for everyone.
We'll start around 11AM.  There will be a lot of tools, gloves and drinks and snacks for everyone, but feel free to bring your own.

We'll be planting a bunch of young California native plants.  And preparing for the retaining wall that will be going in shortly down on the Market St. side.

Hope to see you Sunday!

Gary
