As you are probably aware, Supervisor Wiener has proposed interim controls on overdevelopment in our neighborhood. We are extremely fortunate that this is occurring here as there are numerous projects in the pipeline that would make some of the recent developments look minor.
But - in order for this legislation to pass, we MUST show our support.
I'm going to pass on this note that Judy Hoyem has sent out as it explains what is happening when, and what is at stake. (I apologize if you've already received this from her. There are many blocks that are affected and as many email lists.)
Let's turn out in droves for this hearing. Let's show the other supervisors how strongly we want these interim controls.
LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER, ROOM 250, CITY HALL, 1 DR. CARLTON B. GOODLETT PLACE, MONDAY, MARCH 9TH AT 1:30 PM.
This will be the only opportunity for public comment, so please put it on your calendar and try to make it. You can be sure that the developers will be out in force with their representatives to speak against it.
The Land Use and Transportation Committee makes recommendations to the full Board. The 3 members are Wiener, Kim and Cohen. I am not sure how many votes are needed at the full Board for it to take effect, but I think it is 8. They, of course, will be able to view on-line the public comment given at the Committee hearing. But no additional public comment will be taken at the full Board meeting. Of course we want Jane Kim and Malia Cohen to support Scott in recommending this legislation to the full Board.
Please forward this message to others you know who support reasonable controls on over-sized speculative projects in our neighborhood.
